Wing Eating Contest
 2/5/2012

Saturday February 4th a wing eating contest was held outside the eatery in the main lodge. There were 6 contestants all eager to try out the famous “Kember Dismember” sauce on 10 of our Searchmont wings. It didn’t take long for the action to start, as Adam Hayward announced the beginning of the contest and patrons of the lodge gathered to watch the competition. The contestants were Forrest Hinich, Michael Stubinsky, Joel Douglas, Brad Charlebois, Chris Caper and Christopher Grasley. Previous champion Patrick “P.K” Kelly was unfortunately unable to attend this year but other Searchmont employees were given the time off to defend the Searchmont Crown. The rules had been explained and Adam Hayward dismissed any worries of bodily harm by reassuring the contestants that the defibrillator was at hand if required.

With the contest underway Searchmont’s Forrest Hinich and Brad Charlebois had weight on their shoulders. Forrest took a leisurely approach to the wings and was later quoted as saying “I wanted to see how hot they were and 5 dollars for 10 wings is a deal anyways.” Not expecting a huge victory the pressure was on Brad to compete with the fierce Christopher Grasley who had adopted an eating power stance by standing and leaning far over the table. It looked like all hope had been lost for the Searchmont Rentals department until Grasley slowed after the 7th wing.

With thunderous roars from the crowd of an estimated 40,000, Brad powered through and was first to finish with Grasley just moments behind. By call of the judge Adam Hayward, Brad Charlebois was declared victorious netting himself a Searchmont gift card in the process. Upon further investigation Grasley himself was deemed tie worthy by split decision due to the meat-to-bone ratio on the plate.
